Everyone around the world has been eagerly awaiting the Covid-19 vaccine, and it is finally here.

On 21st December, Singapore received its first batch from Pfizer-BioNTech. They began vaccinating their citizens on 30th December and this included a group of Malaysians who are working there.

Imra Astata Ibrahim, who is from Johor, took to Facebook to share his experience. The 40-year-old stated that he and 10 other Malaysian colleagues did not hesitate to get the vaccine. They took the first injection on 13th January 2021.

They were informed of the possible side effects before the process. “So far my friends and I are healthy after taking the jab. Only on the first day I did feel a slight numb and pain at the injection area,” he was quoted as saying.

He hopes that being vaccinated will allow Malaysians like himself to travel back and forth to Johor. Currently he is renting a house in Jurong West. His second injection will be on 3rd February, 21 days after his first dose.

Singapore’s Ministry of Health is currently prioritising those working in the marine, construction and process sectors, as well as migrant workers. According to them, more than 6,200 Singaporeans received their first injection as of 12th January.

The vaccine will be given freely to ensure that everyone has access to it. This will allow for a higher rate of inoculation among the citizens. The Singapore government hopes that all citizens and permanent residents of Singapore will be vaccinated by the end of 2021, barring unpredicted disruptions to the shipments.
