Most would not hesitate about breaking up with their partner after finding out something about them that may affect their lives but this netizen, however, expressed that she’s been having a dilemma about whether or not she should end her relationship with her boyfriend after finding out about his romantic history with someone very close to her.
Yesterday (Monday, 18th September), an anonymous woman submitted a confession to the Keeper of Malaysian Secrets Twitter page. In her submission, the 27-year-old detailed that she’s been in a loving relationship with her 52-year-old boyfriend, who was apparently her lecturer during her study years.
The two agreed to get married after dating for almost a year and the woman decided it was finally time to introduce her lover to her mother. “I’ve been avoiding this for a long time cause my mother never knew his age so I was afraid she might disapprove,” she wrote. As it turns out, age was no longer the issue after the couple met with the mother. Much to the anonymous woman’s shock, she discovered that her boyfriend and her mom had been in a romantic relationship.
The ex-lovebirds called off their relationship as they were too busy dealing with their own personal issues in their 20s. While the woman’s mother claimed to be okay with the marriage going forward, the submitter herself seems troubled by the revelation as she foresees things getting increasingly awkward in the future. The Twitter user is considering ending the relationship but can’t bear the thought of not having her soon-to-be husband in her life.
The submission went viral with netizens discussing what they believe the woman should do in this matter. Many seemed to consider the possibility that the 52-year-old boyfriend dated the young woman because she reminded him of her mother and advised her to leave him. Others were simply flabbergasted by the story, liking it to a fictional romance written on Wattpad and the 2015 movie “The Age Of Adeline”.
