Yesterday (12th June 2025, Thursday), news reports revealed that a Chinese woman had tried to break into the home of BTS’ Jungkook (방탄소년단 정국). The news sparked outrage amongst fans, but new footage of the incident angered them even more.
Earlier today (13th June 2025, Wednesday), news outlets revealed CCTV footage of the woman who attempted the break-in at Jungkook’s residence in Yongsan-gu. According to previous reports, the woman is a Chinese national in her thirties who allegedly travelled to South Korea for the BTS members’ recent military discharge. She was arrested after trying to enter the idol’s home on the night of his discharge date.

In the now-viral footage, the woman could be seen in front of the singer’s home, pacing around by the door. She was also seen holding a suitcase and repeatedly pressing on the keypad of the electronic door lock. Her suspicious actions sparked concern from Jungkook’s neighbours, who reported the incident to the police. The footage also showed the moment the police arrived at the scene to arrest the woman.
There are no reports on the woman’s motive for the break-in attempt. However, it’s believed the woman was an obsessive fan who wanted to approach the star upon his discharge from the military. Netizens and ARMYs have reacted to the CCTV footage, mostly condemning the woman’s actions. Many also expressed outrage over the situation, noting how scary it must’ve been for Jungkook.

Understandably, the incident also sparked debate over how vulnerable K-pop idols are to stalkers. Given their popularity, the group members are repeat victims of stalking and have had their privacy invaded many times in the past, including having personal information leaked online. Many fans called for BTS’ agency, HYBE, to take serious action against stalkers and protect the members from harm.
As of writing, there are no updates on the woman. However, we hope she’ll receive the appropriate punishment for her actions. Watch the CCTV footage below:
