While many Hong Kong actors have also found success as singers, it seems a boy band isn’t for everyone. Recently, TVB actors Ron Ng (吴卓羲), Bobby Au-yeung (欧阳震华), Roger Kwok (郭晋安), Vincent Wong (王浩信), Jerry Lamb (林晓峰) and Matthew Ko (高钧贤) formed a “boy band” for a show – only for fans to mock the idea.
Recently, Bobby, Roger, Vincent and Matthew appeared on the Chinese variety show, “So Sharp Tonight (transliteration of 今晚好犀利)”, hosted by Ron and Jerry. For the show, the group jokingly formed a boy band, naming themselves the “TVB Actors Boy Band” because of their affiliation with the Hong Kong broadcasting company. The group of actors played into their role of a boy band, even handsomely posing for videos and doing dance challenges.

In one video posted on social media, Ron, Bobby, Roger, Vincent and Matthew challenged themselves to dance to the viral song “Good Night Ojousama” by ASMRZ. As shown in the video, Ron stood front and centre while his groupmates stood behind him. Funnily enough, Ron appeared the most passionate about dancing to the song. Meanwhile, the other actors seem to have difficulty keeping up with the dance moves, with Bobby looking particularly off-beat.
Netizens have reacted to the video, mostly voicing embarrassment over the actors. Despite the boy band idea being a joke for the show, many quipped that the six actors should never consider teaming up to form a group. Others said they felt secondhand embarrassment watching the actors dance to a TikTok trend, saying they couldn’t bring themselves to watch the full video.

Funnily, some even pointed out the total age of all the actors involved in the video. As it turns out, the youngest of the group was Matthew, who recently turned 41. Meanwhile, Vincent is 42, Ron is 46, Jerry is 55, Roger is 61, and Bobby is 65. As such, many netizens joked that the total age of those in the video was over 300 years old, prompting more embarrassment.
While fans say the actors might have embarrassed themselves, we have to give them kudos for going all out to entertain their fans. What are your thoughts on this?
