Being a public figure means that every action and word is subject to scrutiny. A video of THE BOYZ (더보이즈) member Sunwoo (선우) has recently gone viral, allegedly showing the singer being rude to a security guard. The clip has sparked online debate, with actress and former After School (애프터스쿨) member Nana (나나) publicly calling him out for his behaviour.
Fans came to his defence and demanded that the 33-year-old apologise for her comments. She later took to Bubble to explain the situation and why she still believes the vocalist should be held accountable. Here’s her statement:

For context, the circulating video shows THE BOYZ member Sunwoo walking towards a building when he accidentally drops his AirPods. Rather than picking them up himself, he is heard instructing a security guard to retrieve the device for him and hand it back to him. Some deemed his actions inappropriate, with actress Nana being the only public figure to openly criticise his behaviour.
“Someone needs to tell him off,” she wrote in the video’s comment section. Following backlash from THE BOYZ fans, the former idol later clarified that she was not labelling him as a bad person, but rather wanted to sternly remind him to be more respectful towards his staff. In her statement, she said, “I don’t think it’s right to judge someone based on just a short clip. But to be clear, I wasn’t trying to label that person or decide what kind of person he is. It’s just that his behavior looked very rude to me, and the video itself was quite shocking.”

The entertainer added that her comment was simply an emotional reaction to Sunwoo’s behaviour and words, not a judgment of his character. She explained that she has watched the viral video multiple times and still believes that the singer’s actions were unacceptable. Fans praised Nana for standing her ground and refusing to apologise for speaking out about an idol’s actions, even if they were unintentional.
As for Sunwoo, shortly after the incident, his agency ONE HUNDRED stated that he had personally reached out to fans, explaining that he did, in fact, thank the staff member who helped retrieve his AirPods. The company also announced plans to take legal action against those who have spread false or defamatory claims about the idol.
