Clones of your favourite celebrities aren’t too hard to spot, with most claiming fame over their looks on social media to gain popularity. Despite sharing the same look as their celebrity counterparts, their lives are from different parts of the spectrum.
Meet Wei Wenkai, a 41 year old farmer from the Henan province of Central China who looks to be an almost identical twin to Taiwanese singer, Jay Chou (周杰倫). They share the same looks, but Wenkai admits that he did not acquire Chou’s golden voice.

Videos and photos of him have been circling around Chinese social media platforms with most netizens noting his looks to be 99.99% similar to Jay Chou. The now-viral sensation even has the front tooth gap that Jay Chou had before getting dental work done early on in his career. However, while Jay Chou poses for the big screens, Wenkai is only a humble farmer who posts videos of his daily farm life.
Wenkai’s nostalgic and humble demeanour online have earned him praise from netizens. Some have even nicknamed him “Cailun”, a playful spin on Chou’s Chinese name which translates to “Vegetable Jay”. Despite the fact that he cannot sing like the Mandopop icon, Wenkai said he’s a fan and used to write down Jay Chou’s songs and listen to them on cassette tapes.
While he’s Surprised by his newfound fame, Wenkai claims that he has no interest in imitating the star. “Making videos was just a way to share my farming life. I am more introverted and worried that too many fans would disrupt my normal life”, he mentions in an interview with Quanzhou Evening News.

Wenkai isn’t the only one to gain popularity for looking like Jay Chou. Bai Xianying (白先勇), a humble pancake vendor from Hebei, also became a social media sensation a few years back for sharing similar features to the Taiwanese star. Xianying now also has his own physical crepe store thanks to his found fame.
What do you think of this multiverse of Jay Chou’s?
