Regardless of a business’s performance, there will always be customers who feel saddened when an establishment announces its closure. Typically, a brand would make an official announcement across social media to inform customers that one or more of its stores would be closing.
However, many were taken aback to learn that Spotlight Malaysia will no longer be available in the country in a few months, with customers discovering the news either in-store or via email. Here’s what we know so far:

Word has been circulating that Spotlight, the popular Australian home and craft retailer, will be closing its remaining two outlets in Malaysia sometime this year. The brand is particularly well-known among crafters and DIY enthusiasts who purchase items for art projects. Those subscribed as VIP members were informed of the news via email, where the brand announced a 50% off closing-down sale on all items (this only applies to VIP members).
Although the retailer did not specify the closure date, staff confirmed that the stores will close either in June or July, according to customers who inquired in person. Shortly after the news spread across social media, many were devastated to learn that Spotlight would no longer be operating in Malaysia. Some also noted that the brand will continue to operate as usual in the neighbouring country, Singapore.

A few also complained that the discount should be available to all customers, which would make the clearance sale move more quickly. However, that would also mean that closure could happen earlier than planned. With a few more months to go, now is the perfect time for VIP members to shop and enjoy the 50% discount.
The two remaining Spotlight Malaysia outlets are located at IPC Shopping Centre and MyTown Shopping Centre. So, if you’ve been one of the brand’s loyal customers over the years, be sure to make time for a final visit to the stores before saying goodbye for good.
