Ladies and gentlemen, the newest Avatar production has just been confirmed. Introducing “Avatar: Seven Havens.”
In celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have just announced that they, alongside Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios, will be working on a new series that will focus on the new earthbending Avatar after Avatar Korra.
According to press notes released by Nickelodeon, the world of “Seven Havens” takes place in a “world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its saviour. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilisation’s last strongholds collapse.”
The story “Seven Havens” will be told across two seasons, comprising 13 episodes each, and feature the traditional 2D animation that the series is largely known for. Furthermore, Konietzko and DiMartino will take on a hands-on approach when handling the series as co-creators. The two will also be executive producers, alongside Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. However, there has been no cast announcement so far.

This will be the first mainline Avatar TV series from Avatar Studios, which is also working on a full-length animated feature – slated for a 30th January, 2026 release – that will follow an adult Aang on a brand new adventure.
As part of the 20th anniversary celebration, Avatar Studios had also announced a new line of books, comics, toys, concerts, and even a game in Roblox.
Theories, Surprises & Speculation
Though the message from the creators and Nickelodeon is brief, there is plenty to unpack here. First, let’s start with the setting. According to the notes, it takes place after a “devastating cataclysm” that shattered the world. Following this, the title of Avatar becomes a mark that means destroyer rather than saviour. This heavily implies, if not outright states, that something went horribly wrong during Korra’s time, a theme that we’ve seen across previous Avatars like Aang and Roku before him, and might have also resulted in her death. It is also heavily implied that Korra was the cause of this event, as seen when Janet Varney, the voice actress for Korra, was stammering in a quick Instagram reel announcing the new series with Dante Basco, the voice actor for Zuko and General Iroh.
Naturally, the news doesn’t outline what this “cataclysm” was (but it would be an absolutely devastating one if both humans and spirits are pissed); nor does it elaborate on what the Seven Havens are or how they are significant to the plot.
Most intriguing of all is that this Avatar has a twin! The mere mention of this twin was enough to send fans into a frenzy, with many speculating that this might be the reincarnation of the evil spirit, Vaatu. So we might see some gut-wrenching sibling battles, much like Zuko and Azula’s fight in the original series. All the hints so far are suggesting that this might be the darkest entry in the series yet,, and we are absolutely here for it!
