Local influencer Ammar Nazhan has been getting a lot of backlash lately after he was exposed for staging a missing person incident in Indonesia. Many including celebrities voiced out their frustration over his actions saying how he and his friends have brought shame to Malaysia.
In a recent interview, the content creator insisted that the whole ordeal was not a hoax but one of his friends, including the supposed victim, had something to say about the issue. Here’s the story:

Yesterday (Thursday, 13th February), singer-actor Izzrin Irfan revealed more details about the hoax orchestrated by Ammar Nazhan and how he became involved in the project. Speaking to mStar, the artist admitted that he had been paid by the influencer to act as a member of the so-called search party for the missing person. However, he expressed confusion as to why the TikTok star didn’t simply admit or clarify that everything was staged for content.
“This whole thing was planned a year ago. Ammar called me up to help him rebuild his brand. I rejoined the group with the intention of helping out a friend and enjoying my time in Indonesia. I thought people would know that everything was staged. I didn’t think things would escalate like this,” he clarified. When asked why he decided to come forward with his side of the story, the singer explained that it was because no one from the production team, including Ammar, came forward to defend those who had received backlash.

“I actually invited the team to just come clean. I spoke with them before going public. Sadly, they still stand by their stance, so I had no choice but to protect my name,” he elaborated. Towards the end of the video, Izzrin expressed his regret and apologised once again for being involved in such a controversial situation, which has caused so much outrage among Malaysians.
Meanwhile, Eyka, the influencer who went “missing” in Indonesia, took to TikTok to apologise for causing panic and would face the consequences of her actions. However, she urged everyone to not come for her family as they were not in any way involved in the whole thing.
