Shopping centres are places where people go for leisure, whether it’s shopping, entertainment, or simply socialising. They provide an escape after a long and stressful day or week.
However, these establishments aren’t immune to bad incidents. Just this week alone, two major incidents have occurred at shopping centres around Malaysia – particularly Sungei Wang Plaza and Gurney Plaza.
1. Sungei Wang Plaza, KL

Earlier this week, it was reported that a man had fallen from the upper floors of Sungei Wang Plaza, Kuala Lumpur. Customers were not allowed in until the police investigation was complete. There has been no update on the case at the time of writing.
2. Gurney Plaza, Penang

On Wednesday (5th February), at around 2pm, a man reportedly fell from the upper floors into the atrium of what appears to be Gurney Plaza, based on the Chinese New Year decorations. Photos showed that the CNY decorations had been damaged due to the impact of the fall. The man was immediately taken away by ambulance as soon as it arrived at the scene.
