The sudden passing of Taiwanese singer and actress Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛) at the age of 48 has the world shaken and it elicited heartfelt tributes from fellow celebrities and fans. The late actress, famously known for her role in the Taiwanese hit drama “Meteor Garden (流星花园)”, succumbing to influenza after a family trip to Japan.
The news was confirmed by her sister Dee Hsu (徐熙娣) on Monday, 3rd February 2025. Many are shocked and devastated by the news of her passing. 1. Jerry Yan (言承旭)

Barbie Hsu’s co-star in “Meteor Garden”, Jerry Yan (言承旭), took his time to share a heartfelt message for the late actress as the devastating news broke. The actor stated, “I’m grateful to have met you, during the days when you were carefree like a child, you often said to take every day like it’s the last. To live our life to our best. May you rest in peace and, in the other world, may you have no worries.” He recalled that Barbie was a delight to work with and was loved by everyone.
2. Kevin Tsai (蔡康永)

The 58-year-old Taiwanese television host shared an emotional Instagram post saying “I want to imagine you’re still well and living. Yes, I want to think of it this way Until I’m unable to.” Kevin Tsai and Barbie Hsu cross paths frequently throughout their careers, especially during appearances on popular TV shows such as “Kangxi Lai Le (康熙來了)”.
3. Rainie Yang (楊丞琳)

Singer and actress Rainie Yang, a good friend and co-worker of Barbie Hsu, took to Instagram and shared a sincere Instagram story which translated to “Thank you for everything, Shi-yuan. I will always miss you and love you.”
4. Huang Xiaoming (黄晓明)

Chinese actor, Huang Xiaoming expressed his condolences on his Weibo post, saying he was in shock and disbelief after receiving the news. “I cannot accept this terrible news. It is really hard,” he wrote. The pair worked together on the Taiwanese hit drama “Summer’s Desire (泡沫之夏)”.
5. Ken Chu (朱孝天)

Another former member of F4 in “Meteor Garden”, Ken Chu posted a statement on his Weibo saying, “Sigh… A bolt from the blue”. The actor posted their group photo in memory of Barbie Hsu and to commemorate the anniversary of their iconic series “Meteor Garden”.
6. Matilda Tao (陶晶瑩)

Veteran TV host Matilda Tao expressed her devastation and heartache at Barbie Hsu’s death. The 55-year-old stated “I just met you before Chinese New Year, and you were smiling brightly and looking happy at that time,” she wrote. “I didn’t expect life to be so unpredictable. I hope all my friends can take good care of themselves and cherish the people around them.”
7. Angie Chai (柴智屏)

“Meteor Garden” film producer, Angie Chai, paid her tribute to her former co-worker through a heartfelt post. The Taiwanese producer and writer said that Hsu was like her little sister. She cherished her as someone who was brave, smart and righteous.
8. Stacy Hsu (徐曉晰)

Stacy Hsu posted a deeply personal tribute, writing, “I was in Bangkok this morning when I saw the news of Big S’s passing. I thought it was fake news. It was so shocking and sad. I couldn’t calm down for a long time. You are a fairy and a heroine, kind and brave, gentle on the outside but strong on the inside. You left so suddenly but carefreely. Your beauty and wit will always be remembered in our hearts. Life is so unpredictable. Joy and sorrow come and go in a flash. Let go of the internal conflicts and struggles. Cherish every moment.”
