The Taiwanese entertainment industry is mourning the sudden death of actress Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛), who recently died from influenza complications. However, the news of her death also spooked some netizens who pointed out a creepy coincidence involving singer Show Lo (罗志祥).

In 2007, Barbie and Show co-starred in the Taiwanese drama “Corner With Love (转角*遇到爱)”, playing the female and male lead respectively. The idol drama quickly gained popularity amongst viewers and was even nominated for Taiwan’s prestigious Golden Bell Awards in 2007. Unfortunately, fans now believe the drama is cursed after three of the drama’s actors unexpectedly passed away.

“Corner With Love” also starred Taiwanese actors Alien Huang (黃鴻升) and Chang Li-wei (張立威), who both played friends of Show’s character, Qin Lang. Alien, who maintained a close friendship with Show outside of the drama, died in 2020 following cardiovascular complications. He was only 36 years old at the time of his death. On the other hand, Chang Li-wei passed away on 29th January 2025 (Wednesday) at the age of 56, reportedly due to health complications.

Most recently, Barbie passed away on 2nd February 2025 (Sunday) while on holiday in Japan with her family. The late actress, who plays Show’s love interest, was only 48 when she passed, leaving behind her husband DJ Koo (구준엽) and two children. Following the announcement of her death, fans shared tributes for the late star, reminiscing her roles in “Corner With Love” as well as “Meteor Garden (流星花園)”.

Barbie, Alien and Chang Li-wei’s deaths have prompted many to suggest that “Corner With Love” may be cursed because of the eerie coincidence. Meanwhile, Show has shared a small tribute to his late co-star through his Instagram Stories. Other stars have also paid their respects to Barbie, including actress Vivian Hsu (徐若瑄), actor-singer Ken Chu (朱孝天) and producer Angie Chai (柴智屏), who produced both “Corner With Love” and “Meteor Garden”.
