Earlier this week, local model Zahnita Wilson’s husband, Abdul Zackery Ghouse, claimed he was the actual victim of domestic abuse, alleging that his wife had attempted to assault him using Muay Thai. Even their eldest daughter Zahra supported his version of events, calling her mother selfish for coming forward with her story.
The allegations arose after the entrepreneur filed a police report against her husband, detailing 20 years of domestic violence. Speaking to local media, the business owner responded to the claims made by her two family members.
Zahnita Wilson admitted that she had taken Muay Thai lessons since 2016, but she insisted that she had only used her skills for self-defence. “I deny every accusation. I have never assaulted [my husband]. Yes, I did learn Muay Thai professionally, but it was solely for self-defence. I’m actually going to my next lesson soon. Care to join me?” she told Kosmo.
The 39-year-old added that she did not expect Abdul Zackery to make such claims and suspected that he had only done so because she refused to drop the legal case against him. “We had a court session not long ago, and he told me, in front of the judge, that if I wanted him to finalise the divorce, I would have to drop the charges I had made against him. What he’s doing right now is a smear campaign to make himself appear innocent,” the celebrity mother explained.
As for her thoughts on her eldest child defending her father, Zahnita said that she was saddened by her statement but would not harbour any grudges against her daughter. “Let her. It’s okay. She’s still young, and I believe that one day when she’s an adult, she’ll understand. All this time, I’ve tried to keep our marital problems a secret from our children as much as possible. I don’t want to speak badly about her father because he is still her biological father,” she elaborated.
The model also suspected that her daughter had been manipulated by Abdul Zackery, suggesting that she probably did not want to see her father in jail. The case is still ongoing, and there have been updates on when the next court hearing will take place.
