Last month, model and entrepreneur Zahnita Wilson spoke out about the alleged abuse she endured at the hands of her husband, Abdul Zackery Ghouse, over the years. Friends, family, and fans were shocked by the news, especially after she posted photos of her injuries. Her husband was arrested shortly after the latest incident.
However, although the case is still under investigation, Abdul Zackery Ghouse came forward to share his side of the story, claiming that he is the actual victim of domestic abuse. Here’s what he told reporters:
In an interview with mStar, Zahnita Wilson’s husband claimed he had endured abuse from his wife, who had been demanding a divorce throughout their 20-year marriage. “It was actually [my wife] who was violent. She knows Muay Thai and has even tried to Muay Thai me. When someone tries to attack, it’s natural to be defensive. When a woman acts like a man, what should a man do?,” he asked.
He also revealed that the altercation, which led to the model’s injuries, stemmed from her renting out a property to expand her business without informing him beforehand. Abdul Zackery even accused Zahnita of child negligence as she’s been too focused on her work. “When I confronted her, she became angry, saying she needed to protect her business and couldn’t live with me as I always hit her,” the 47-year-old told the news outlet.
Previously, it was reported that the couple’s eldest child would assist with the investigation. Apparently, their daughter Zahra was also interviewed by mStar and insisted that her father was innocent. She claimed that the photo her mother posted of her injuries was an old one and that no one was being abused at home.
“It was pretty selfish of her to make these allegations at this time cause it’s distracting me from focusing on my SPM exams. I also believe there was no need to drag me into adult matters,” said the 17-year-old. When asked about her relationship with her mother, Zahra claimed that she’s not as close with Zahnita. “No one is forcing me. I prefer to live with my father. It’s more chill. Every time I see my mother, she always gets angry,” she told reporters.
The father-and-daughter statements have since gone viral, with netizens expressing scepticism about the matter. Meanwhile, Zahnita Wilson has yet to respond to her family members’ claims. At the time of writing, there have been no updates on the domestic abuse case. Until then, we can only hope that this family issue will be resolved soon.
