Last night (Thursday, 19th December), K-pop boy group GOT7 (갓세븐) surprised fans with a teaser of their long-awaited comeback. A group photo was posted on their official social media account which had everyone screaming with excitement, us included.
Throughout 2024, fans have eagerly awaited news of when the idols will reunite for a comeback, with many attempting to extract that information from the members at their respective solo events. Now that it’s official, here’s what we know so far about the upcoming project:
1. Their first group comeback in nearly 3 years

The last new music from GOT7 was released in 2022 when they dropped “NANANA” from their self-titled EP. Since then, the group has been on hiatus to focus on their solo careers, with some members, such as Jackson Wang and Mark Tuan, having performed and attended events in Malaysia.
2. Their comeback will be in January 2025
According to the official announcement, GOT7 will officially return to the K-pop music scene on 20th January 2025. While not much is known about the album concept just yet, with only a month to go, we can certainly look forward to more teasers in the coming weeks.
3. Some members have spoiled the comeback

If you’ve been keeping up with each GOT7 member, you’ll know that a few of them have already spoiled at the comeback. Earlier this year, BamBam revealed in an interview that the songs were completed, but the group was waiting for the right moment to release them, as two members were still serving in the military at the time.
Speaking of military service, as soon as he was discharged, Jinyoung mentioned during a live stream that GOT7 would release an album early in 2025. This caused some dismay among the other members, who attempted to deny the claims by commenting on the livestream with, “What album?”
4. Their new album may be called “Winter Heptagon”

GOT7 has yet to announce the name of their upcoming project, but reports suggest it will be called “Winter Heptagon”. As for the meaning behind the name, fans have speculated that it refers to the pattern of seven bright stars in the winter night sky. When displayed in this formation, the stars also form a “G”.
5. BamBam wrote the title track

While there isn’t much information about the album itself, BamBam teased that he wrote the title track. During his fan sign event in Mumbai, the idol shared a detail about the upcoming project after fans requested to know more. He may have also accidentally revealed concert dates for 1st and 2nd February, but this information has yet to be verified and is subject to change, although leader JAY B teased about the group concert during his solo show in Seoul earlier this month.
Now that it’s official, are you excited about GOT7’s comeback?
