Whether you’re big on venturing onto the high seas or cruising in a tank-like limousine, you’ll be stoked over these potential movie sequels.
From returning to serving the Royal Court and protecting the world from the shadows, to venturing the vast oceans to plunder its riches, here is some movie sequel news that we’re dying to be confirmed as true.
Taron Hints At A Third & Potentially Last “Kingsman” Movie

It’s almost universally agreed upon that the “Kingsman” is the king of spy movies in recent years, rivalling even the legendary Bond films. Across two mainline films and a prequel, the franchise has earned more than US$200 million and is widely loved by critics and fans alike.
Despite its massive pop culture success, 20th Century’s president, Steve Asbell, stated earlier this October that there won’t be any sequels anytime soon. However, the winds have picked up a strange string of coincidences as of late that might contradict that claim.

This comes from Taron Egerton, the main actor for the first two “Kingsman” movies. In an interview with Screen Rant, the actor went on a somewhat lengthy tangent when asked about the state of the beloved franchise. “I believe that was said by somebody from Fox, I think,” Taron said. “I think… I don’t know, and I don’t want to speak out of school, but I don’t think that necessarily means that we won’t do it. I think Matthew and I very much want to do one more. I want to do one more. And so while, you know, we don’t have a shoot date yet, I think it could still happen.”
Egerton isn’t the only one asking for one more film; even director Matthew Vaughn shared his plans for a third mainline installment to the franchise. However, franchises often slow down when it comes to developing their third installment; during this down time, other opportunities come knocking for the crew and cast. They either leave the project and come back at a later time with a substantial gap between the last and the latest installment, or fill in the void with a spin-off film. We, obviously, had the latter of the two.

Though both actor and director have expressed a desire to make the third film, this was promptly shut down by Asbell, who claimed that there wasn’t a concrete script at the time. Call it coincidence or pure dedication, Vaughn confirmed that the script for “Kingsman 3” is currently being written. Because of that, we might just see the end of Eggsy’s story sooner than anticipated.
Johnny Depp Is Open To Returning To The High Seas

For over a hundred years, Disney has been known for churning out exquisite movies and shows that are suited for all generations. Though they mainly pride themselves on their animated movies, the entertainment giant has also churned out some stunning live-action original films. Though audiences might argue among themselves as to which among Disney’s vast collections is superior, it goes without saying that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise is easily one of the most iconic pirate series to have ever come out in modern media.
Five movies in and not a single entry skipped a beat; packed with dazzling CGI that is ahead of its time, with a well-crafted script, and a loveable cast, it is no surprise that people still quote this franchise to this day. And what brought it all together is the legendary Johnny Depp.

Though it is a monumentally successful franchise with fans begging for a sixth installment, there was a time that we thought we might never see one come to light. Back in 2022, at the height of Depp’s defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard, the actor once said he had no interest in reprising the beloved pirate, not even for “US$300 million and a million alpacas.”
This is because Disney unceremoniously fired the veteran actor at the height of his trial, allegedly trying to wash their hands off a potential abuser before it got too big. However, when the dust settled and it was revealed that Depp was largely a victim throughout the relationship, it was quite hard to make amends, to say the least.

However, time heals all wounds. There have been recent talks of Depp returning to the high seas and revisiting the franchise. Variety reported that “Pirates of the Caribbean” producer Jerry Bruckheimer is working on two very different versions of PotC 6, one of which includes Jack Sparrow.
As of July 2023, Depp was allegedly open to the possibility of returning to the series. If he were to return, it would also be his first major Hollywood film after the defamation case. His recent filmography consists of “Minamata” and “Jeanne du Barry,” both small-scale movies and projects. Regardless, if Depp would return or not, the franchise is ready to set sail without its beloved captain; perhaps we might see a new lead to helm the Black Pearl’s voyage.
