Local influencer Gatita Yan (Tong Lee Yan) and her partner Tay Wee Shen (郑伟盛) have gone through many ups and downs during their relationship. However, they recently announced they’re taking their love to the next stage!
Last week, Wee Shen popped the question to Gatita, surrounded by friends and family in a movie theatre he booked exclusively for the proposal. In the past, Gatita has spoken about her indifference to getting married. Still, her love for Wee Shen must have changed her mind because she accepted the proposal, igniting cheers from those in the room. However, while marriage proposals are typically happy, the couple’s engagement unfortunately sparked unsavoury comments.
After proposing to Gatita, Wee Shen revealed that he received comments from netizens criticising his decision to wed the influencer. Many brought up her past career as an OnlyFans model, saying that Wee Shen’s parents would be disappointed in their relationship. Wee Shen would later share a video, responding to the comments and defending his fiancée. In his video, Wee Shen clarified that his mother has passed away. However, his father knows of Gatita’s past and accepts the influencer for who she is.
He also questioned netizens’ motive for making such negative comments, suggesting that they hate on Gatita because it makes them feel superior. Wee Shen then condemned the negative comments, urging netizens to stop spreading hate to him and his partner. The video concludes with him saying, “I want the world to know that even if a woman has an OnlyFans account or makes regretful decisions, she still deserves love”.
Kudos to Tay Wee Shen for defending Gatita amidst the hate. We can see how much he cares for her, and we’re sure Gatita also appreciates having a supportive partner by her side. We’d also like to congratulate the couple on their engagement, and may their love last a lifetime.
