Death is never an easy subject to approach, even more so when the one who lost their life was a person with a heart of gold. Local animal lovers mourn the death of Malaysian rescuer Paul Yong Chee Ching, who selflessly dedicated his life to protecting and caring for stray animals.
According to reports, Paul died on 8th October 2024 (Tuesday) while on a work trip to Kuantan. A friend of Paul has shared details of his memorial service, which will take place on Saturday (12th October 2024) at his family home in Kuala Kangsar. Friends and family who wish to pay their final respects can attend Paul’s funeral. The public can also choose to contribute the condolence money.

Many know Paul as someone who actively volunteers to protect and foster stray animals. He often uses his Facebook accounts, Karma Paul and Fur-Ever Friends, to advocate for animal welfare. A scroll through both Facebook accounts shows his love for animals and dedication to rescuing and caring for strays. His last post on his page was a notice for donations to help fund the medical bills for injured dogs.
Animal lovers who are familiar with Paul’s work were shocked to learn about his sudden death, as he appears healthy with no signs of illness. Nevertheless, many have taken to social media to pay tribute to the selfless man who had inspired his peers to care for innocent animals whenever possible. Several charity organizations also mourned his death and thanked him for his work as an independent rescuer.

We thank Paul for his work all these years in creating a safer and happier place for strays. We also extend our condolences to Paul’s family and friends, and may they find solace during this difficult time. May this hero rest in peace, and may his legacy live on in the lives he saved.
