Cats are very well-known for their unexpected behaviours; they can be affectionate one moment and extremely stubborn or aggressive the next. However, whenever it comes to children, these fluffy felines tend to have a different approach.
A video posted by user Dhia Mirza went viral recently on TikTok with 2.9 million views (at time of writing), showing a young girl applying makeup on her cat. The feline, named Tobby, can be seen lying calmly on the bed while enduring the child’s mischief.
In the video, the cat appears unbothered, lying next to the child as she applies makeup to her pet. Surprisingly, she wasn’t just playing with empty brushes; she was using her mother’s makeup on the cat’s face. The grey feline, matching looks with the little girl, sports pink glasses, a light pink blush on its cheeks, and bold red lipstick.
The fact that the cat is male adds to the video’s comedic effect, especially as the user included the background audio from the popular 2000s Malaysian drama “Sutun”, which tells the story of a young man in a small village who embodies a feminine persona. The video has elicited a range of mixed reactions from Malaysian netizens, from amusement to negative comments.
Despite it being forced to stay still and get its makeup done, many netizens were surprised at how calm and collected the cat was. Others were interested to know the brand of the blush, as the pink colour was very pigmented on the cat’s dark-coloured fur. On the other hand, there were concerned comments claiming and wondering if the act by the child was considered animal testing or not.
Even though the video did amuse us, we should always be reminded that makeup and certain products shouldn’t be applied to animals as they contain harmful chemicals that might result in unpredictable reactions, according to several reports. Similar to children too, as these products might react differently on their sensitive skin.
