Veteran Hong Kong singer Law Kar Ying (罗家英) has been in a decades-long relationship with fellow HK star Liza Wang (汪明荃), and their love story dates back to 1989. However, before he gave his heart to Liza, Law Kar Ying revealed that he was once in love with a Malaysian woman.
The renowned opera singer recently attended an event where he spoke with reporters on several topics. After revealing that he will be in Malaysia in early December for a joint concert, reporters questioned Law Kar Ying on his thoughts about the rumours surrounding his former travel show co-host, Edan Lui (吕爵安), and Malaysian-born actress Lin Min Chen (林明祯). In response, the public figure joked that he never received any news about the MIRROR member’s relationship.

However, he said Edan needs to be patient when pursuing Lin Min Chen and continue to show his positive characteristics. He added that he’s optimistic about Edan and Lin Min Chen’s relationship. During this interview, Law Kar Ying also revealed that his first girlfriend was a Malaysian. Taking account of his experience, the singer praised Malaysian women, saying they’re passionate and considerate individuals.
Funnily enough, the 78-year-old said he couldn’t advise Edan on love topics because he’s not the best teacher, jokingly calling himself a “loser”. He explained, “If I had succeeded in my relationships, I would have gotten married earlier and had children. I wouldn’t have married at the age of 62.” However, he said that his relationship with Liza did teach him the importance of being patient when it comes to your loved one.

While Law Kar Ying might not see himself as a man with much success in love, many continue to make his long pursuit of Liza an example of a loving relationship. Unfortunately, he didn’t share much about his first love, but maybe he’ll reveal more about his first love when he’s in town in December.
