Chinese actress Fan Bingbing (范冰冰) is no stranger to Malaysia, given that she’s the tourism ambassador for the state of Melaka. However, the actress may currently be in the country to work on an upcoming project.
The actress recently updated her social media with a few posts, including one video of her heading to a filming site early in the morning. However, Fan Bingbing’s location in the post shows that she’s currently in Malaysia, which is likely where she took the video. The 43-year-old also shared several photos of a sunrise, which she possibly took after completing her filming.
While Fan Bingbing never mentioned her exact location in Malaysia, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that the actress is in Alor Setar, Kedah, because of the hotel she was at. Many Malaysian fans have since reacted to her posts, writing comments welcoming her to Malaysia. As for why the actress is in Alor Setar, news reports suggest that she might be in the city to film an upcoming movie with Malaysian director Chong Keat Aun (张吉安).
According to China Press, Fan Bingbing is starring in Chong Keat Aun’s new movie, set for a 2026 release. The news outlet has contacted the director and the actress but both parties declined to comment on the news. Nevertheless, many Fan Bingbing fans are already excited about the collaboration, given that Chong Keat Aun recently received critical acclaim in China for his film, “Snow In Midsummer (五月雪)”.
