The “From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina” Trailer Has Just Dropped & We’re Loving It!

The first trailer for the new John Wick spinoff film, the awkwardly-titled “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina,” is out, and it’s awesome!

The trailer plunges us once again into the bloody (and wonderful) world of John Wick. “Ballerina,” which takes place in between “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and “Chapter 4,” tells the tale of Eve Macarro (played by Ana de Armas), an orphan-turned-assassin who was adopted by Winston Scott (played by Ian McShane) following the loss of her family.

With that said, it’s basically another revenge story that John Wick fans would absolutely adore, along with a lot of fanservice (the good kind) to go along with it. Typically, spin-off titles tend to distance themselves from the original source material so as to not affect continuity, but “Ballerina” dives right into the thick of the lore.

The two-minute-long trailer gives us glimpses of Eve’s story; how she was taken by Winston, how she’s trained by the Ruska Roma, and how she transforms into a deadly assassin that aspires to be the next John Wick.

In her quest for revenge, we get to see new and familiar faces alike, such as Anjelica Huston’s “The Director,” Norman Reedus in an unnamed role, Lance Reddick’s Charon, and Keanu Reeves himself, reprising the role of the Baba Yaga, John Wick. Though he only shows up for one scene, we might get the chance to see a special team-up between the two assassins, especially considering that they’re both from the same crime syndicate.

But we need to address the elephant in the room, and that’s Lance Reddick. We all know that the legendary actor died at the age of 60 back in March 2023, so you can imagine our shock to see him again, at least one last time. It’s been confirmed that “Ballerina” is the actor’s final posthumous onscreen role, which is both a sad and happy thought. Though we unexpectedly lost him a year ago, we at least get to see him one last time.

“From the World of John Wick: Ballerina” is directed by Len Wiseman, known for his work on the “Underworld” film franchise, “Sleepy Hollow, and “Lucifer.” Since he had no hand in the original franchise, fans are understandably worried about how the film might perform. But based on the trailer, they might be in for a treat, as it’s packed with a lot of interesting set pieces, tight action sequences, and a truckload of practical effects.
