Lee Joon Gi (이준기) knows how to work a crowd like a pro; that much was quite evident during his first fan meet in Malaysia that was held in Mega Star Arena over the weekend. The South Korean star ascended unto the stage started strong with “Thank You”, “Now” and “Can’t Be Slow”. The hall erupted in loud cheers for the seasoned performer.
Although this tour was a fan meet, it felt more like a Lee Joon Gi concert. Seeing the 42-year-old channel his inner K-pop star was certainly a departure from his iconic roles we’re using seeing him on the small screen. Audiences were even treated to some brand new songs – namely “Delete” and “Dancing in The Moonlight”.
Throughout the almost 3-hour event, Lee Joon Gi performed over 20 songs including “My Lady”, “For A While”, and “Tonight”, ranging from upbeat dance tunes to emotional ballads. However, our favourite moments was when he sang popular soundtrack songs from “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart”, “Flower of Evil”, “Arthdal Chronicles”, and “Criminal Minds”. After all, many of us fell in love with his roles in the aforementioned K-dramas. We personally felt that it was a missed opportunity that there wasn’t a segment dedicated to reminisce on these beloved TV roles.
The night wasn’t without its fair share of mishaps though. Following the technical issues at previous concerts (The BOYZ, Show Lo), Lee Joon Gi was struggling with the sound issues at various stages of the concert. While Lee Joon Gi handled it like a pro, we wish Mega Star Arena will look into this matter seriously as it has become a consistent factor in every concert here lately.
Having said that, spending 3 hours with Lee Joon Gi was such a treat. The actor showed that he’s also one hella of a singer and performer, has the moves of a pro dancer, and can sing well in other languages. In addition to singing Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” as well as Bruno Mars’ “Marry You” and Uptown Funk”, the handsome Oppa also surprised fans with his own rendition of “Rasa Sayang”.

Lee Joon Gi wasn’t expecting such a warm reception from Malaysian fans and promised that he’ll return soon in the future.
