After what happened to YouTuber IShowSpeed during his recent visit to Malaysia, there have been netizens who called out these fans for being hypocrites – criticising K-pop fans for being excited about their idols visiting the country. While most K-pop fans have been on their best behaviour, some were, unfortunately, a little bit overwhelmed with excitement when a certain star arrived here recently.
In case you were wondering why IOI City Mall was so unusually crowded earlier this week, it was because Korean actor Lee Min Ho (이민호) made his special appearance for the Azarine Malaysia Meet-and-Greet event that day. Of course, the atmosphere was extremely lively, however, netizens feared that fans may have gone overboard with their hospitality.
Several videos on TikTok have gone viral showing Lee Min Ho being mobbed by a sea of fans at the event. The actor had difficulty walking through the crowd even with a team of security, as his admirers surrounded him and blocked his path. Despite the chaos, the celeb was all smiles throughout the entire thing.
One TikTok user called Malaysian fans the worst crowd after seeing how the 37-year-old could not even walk to his destination without fans pushing each other to get closer to him. Unfortunately, the mayhem didn’t end there. After the Meet-and-Greet event was done, Min Ho had a flight to catch that evening. As seen in the screenshots below, the “Pachinko” star was once again mobbed by fans as he was making his way to the special lounge before boarding his flight.
At one point, one fan even grabbed the actor’s arm and refused to let him go before security intervened. Netizens reacted to these viral videos with some being impressed by his star power while others were concerned for his safety. Many called out the crazed fan at the airport, who grabbed his arm, for her outrageous behaviour towards the Korean actor.
Thankfully, Lee Min Ho was not harmed but we can’t say the same for fans amongst the large crowd who were pushing and shoving each other. Watch videos of the chaos below:
