A TikToker, who is known as Abang Bas, has sparked nationwide outrage after he was exposed for posting videos of underage students on the school bus, particularly one girl whom he has been calling his “crush”. Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development of Malaysia instructed the authorities to investigate the matter.
“This behaviour is not acceptable and shouldn’t be normalised,” she said. Thankfully, the 24-year-old has since been arrested. While most did find his content disturbing, the driver’s 600k followers tried to defend his actions by saying that he was just being playful with the children. A few celebrities came forward to speak on this issue and this is what they had to say:
Ceddy Ang (Ceddyornot)

Influencer Ceddy Ang posted on both his Twitter and Instagram about the trending topic. He called out those who tried to downplay the severity of the situation. “Even if it’s just for content, this world is filled with dangerous people who would do harm to children. Those who enable this kind of behaviour are absolutely disgusting!” he tweeted. The content creator also found it disturbing how there are parents who defended the arrested bus driver for grooming the child in his videos.
Tiz Zaqyah

Actress-singer Tiz Zaqyah also had something to say about the issue as it hits close to home. The celeb recalled the time her friend was sexually harassed by a relative when she was young but could not speak out about it well until adulthood. The 35-year-old also expressed gratitude to her father who made sure she was in safe hands when she was riding the bus to and from school. “Please, please, please, as fathers, and mothers, be critical about your child’s surroundings,” she concluded her post.
Caprice
As a father of two children, this issue also resonates with Caprice. Unlike his previous opinion posts in the past, the rapper chose to express his thoughts in writing this time around. The public figure reposted the Buletin 9’s report on his IG with a caption that reads, “Malaysia, stop normalizing these weird behaviours. The LAST account you want to create on social media is called ABANG BAS SEKOLAH!”
The case is currently being investigated under Section 15 (a)(iii) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 and Section 15(2) of the Child Act 2001. At the time of writing, there has been no update on Abang Bas’ punishments but we hope necessary action will be taken.
