If you’re making your long-awaited comeback in front of thousands of watchful eyes, you might as well do it in style! Tennis player Naomi Osaka (大坂なおみ) recently made her highly anticipated return to the US Open, stepping onto the court for the first time since 2022 – and she made sure all eyes were on her.
The Japanese tennis player donned a custom “magical-girl”-inspired look for her first match, which garnered social media attention. Noami’s one-of-a-kind kit was designed by Yoon Ahn of Japanese-based brand Ambush in collaboration with Nike. The kit comes in two versions – green for day and black for night.

Naomi has already publicly showcased the green version of the uniform, which featured ruffles along the sides and the back of the dress. The kit also includes a warm-up jacket, which made waves with its giant green bow, and the warm-up skirt, which incorporates tulles to emulate a tutu. Her custom Nike sneakers completed the look, with heels decorated with green bows.
When speaking about her maximalist uniform, Naomi said putting it on felt like putting on a super suit. The 27-year-old said, “There’s a moment of transformation for me when I walk onto the court, and I have a lot of fun playing, so wanting everyone who sees the outfit to connect with that feeling is a really big motivation for me.” Lucky for her, the uniform has since gone viral on social media, with many netizens loving the bows and ruffles.
However, that’s not all Naomi has to serve in the fashion world. In celebration of her return to the American tennis tournament, Nike also launched a new collection under their Nike Women line. Naomi is the muse for the Yoon Ahn collaboration, which features a new take on old-school, tennis-inspired looks. The collection includes polo tees, varsity jackets, crop tops and tennis skirts.

Naomi will continue her US Open journey after winning her first round against top-10 player Jeļena Ostapenko. In the meantime, the Nike Women x Yoon Ahn collection is now available on the official Nike website and at selected retailers.
