Earlier this week, veteran Hong Kong actor Eric Tsang (曾志伟) was spotted at KLIA by a fan who said he was in the country to film a movie. Yesterday (27th August 2024, Tuesday), it was revealed that the movie he was working on was an upcoming Malaysian-Hong Kong Lunar New Year movie titled “Money Games (半斤百两)”.

Eric attended the press conference for the movie, along with his co-stars and fellow Hong Kong actors, Bobby Au-Yeung (欧阳震华) and Edmond So (蘇志威). Also present at the event were the Malaysian cast members Jack Lim (林德荣), Steady Gang’s Haoren (朱浩仁), Tomato (李铭鴻) and Ah Ya (阿亚), Wayne Thong (唐玮颜), Jacqueline Tiang (程玲), Sandra Lim (林雪卉) and Jovi Heng (王义翔). Director Matt Lai (赖健雄) also appeared to speak to the media about the upcoming movie.

During the press conference, Eric, Bobby and Edmond shared their thoughts about filming in Malaysia and working with Malaysian cast and crew. Eric, who currently helms the position of TVB’s General Manager, praised the professionalism of the local cast, adding that he enjoyed filming in the country. He also praised the three Steady Gang members, complimenting their comedic skills.

Fellow HK star Bobby also had good things to say about the Malaysian cast and crew, sharing an anecdote when he first arrived in Malaysia. The actor revealed that he almost got a heatstroke because he couldn’t adapt to the weather. However, he said the cast was attentive to his needs, even offering to take him to the hospital, which made him feel so grateful.

Singer-actor Edmond also praised the Malaysian crew, saying they were dedicated and efficient. The Grasshopper singer, who flew into the country immediately after his concert in China, also expressed his gratitude to the local team for accommodating his busy schedule and allowing him to participate in the film.

“Money Games” is an upcoming action comedy set to release on Lunar New Year 2025. The movie focuses on money and the lengths people go to make a quick buck. This Malaysia-Hong Kong collaboration is the brainchild of Jack Lim and Eric Tsang, who both worked on the script and served as the movie’s executive producers.
