Korean singer-actor Jang Han Byul (한별) once said that he considers Malaysia his second home and with the love and support of his fans here, his career continues to grow. Last year, he starred in the major hit series “Lecturerku Oppa” on iQiyi Malaysia but it has certainly been a while since we heard some new music from him.
Luckily for his fans, last month, the former Led Apple member released his latest single “Jodoh” which serves as the theme song for the TV series, “Hello Jodoh”. During an interview with OhBulan, the star talked about working on the song and the most challenging part of recording it.
Han Byul has recorded multiple Malay singles throughout his career here in Malaysia with “Jodoh” his 7th. According to the lyrics, the track talks about one reuniting with their first love and how they’ve quickly reignited that once-dying flame. Unlike his previous projects, which are mostly ballads, this song has a catchy and light tune that fans can happily sing along to.
The singer revealed in the interview that the song immediately caught his attention the first time it was played to him. “At first, I didn’t know who wrote and composed it. It was only after we finished recording the song that I found out that I had worked with the creators on previous projects and I was so surprised that our paths have crossed again,” he said. Although he loves “Jodoh”, the actor admitted that it was a challenging song saying that he had to sing in his higher register.
“I tried not to make it sound like I was screaming so I projected as much as I could but still kept it soft, sweet and relaxing to hear so that those who listen to the song can imagine the cute and loving story it tells,” the 33-year-old elaborated. Han Byul ended the interview by saying that he hoped everyone would enjoy the song with their significant other.
The song was written by Hazama, Omar K dan Firdaus Rahmat, with the first two having previously worked with Han Byul on his track “Bukan Milikmu” back in 2022. According to Omar, Han Byul has always been a joy to work with as he’s very dedicated to his craft and is not afraid to give his own creative input into making a song better.
With a song this good, we’re looking forward to seeing what Han Byul will be cooking up next for his fans. Listen to “Jodoh” below:
