With artists around the world announcing their concerts, Malaysian girl group DOLLA joined the bandwagon when they unveiled “Rebirth The Experience” concert details earlier this week. The news fueled excitement among their Malaysian iDOLLAs yet a few aren’t happy about the ticket rates, repeating the history of Aina Abdul’s RM1.2k ticket fiasco 2 years ago.
As they released their seating plans and ticket prices, it is known that the tickets range from RM149 to RM9888, which is the VVIP Box. The fans were flabbergasted when hearing about the ticket prices, immediately raising questions as to why it was expensive.

According to the promotional poster, the VVIP Box, labelled as the “BO$$ UP” category, admits a total of 10 people and it is said to include a range of benefits. Each attendee will receive entry to an exclusive meet and greet session, a signed poster, a photo card, a photo card holder and a limited edition wristband. Notably, VVIP ticket holders are also granted a private and fast entrance.
However, despite the privileges offered, this notion sparked a debate among netizens (on a now-deleted Facebook post) as most believed the price equates to a basic pilgrimage package. Not just that, several netizens pointed out the insensitivity of promoting a concert amidst the genocide taking place in Rafah. Yet, some fans backed this by stating it is the organiser’s carelessness for not thinking through the pricing and the timing.

Some also argued that even when the package price is split among 10 people, the amount still has a huge gap from the other ticket categories. Overall, netizens agreed collectively that it is way too much for a local artist’s performance. As of now, there are no updates regarding the ticket prices and the organiser has yet to issue a response. In addition, the ticketing purchase will take place today (Thursday, 30th May) so it is unlikely for the organisers to make last-minute changes.
Do you think RM9888 is too unreasonable for a local act’s first concert?
