Hong Kong’s beloved actor Roger Kwok (郭晉安) and former TVB star Cindy Au (歐倩怡) have stunned the entertainment industry with their recent divorce announcement after 18 years of marriage. In a joint statement, they revealed their separation of two years and their carefully considered decision to part ways.
This revelation came as a shock to fans who have admired their seemingly unbreakable bond. Now for the question that’s been on everyone’s minds: Who gets what in the divorce? According to reports, the “Forgotten Day” star has an extensive property portfolio in Hong Kong, valued at a whopping HKD90 million (RM54,561,330).
His property portfolio includes opulent residences like Sai Kung Kwan Fook Terrace, Hung Hom Chatham Gate, Mong Kok China Overseas Building, Taikoo Shing, and Tsuen Wan City Landmark. With this in mind, did Cindy get any of thing from her ex-husband’s assets? Many would expect so but the actress, instead chose to disassociate herself from them for simplicity.
According to Dimsum Daily, the mother-of-two wanted to “avoid complications and unnecessary hassle”. Their children are also said to not have any link to the properties, as Roger plans to allocate his wealth for charitable purposes before his death, a choice fully endorsed by his ex-wife. As for the question of spousal maintenance or alimony, there are currently no reports nor updates on that subject but since the former couple are seemingly on good terms, it can be assumed that there isn’t any issue in that department.
Roger and Cindy’s relationship, which began seven years before marriage, has fascinated fans and industry insiders alike, signifying the end of a relationship era in Hong Kong’s entertainment circle. Nevertheless, we hope for their happiness and a bright future as they navigate life’s journey separately.
