Cameron Highlands has a lot going on this year. Back in January, a tourist attraction known as Hobbitoon Village opened approximately 21km from Cameron Highlands and is a 35-minute drive from Simpang Pulai. The Hobbit-themed village was, of course, inspired by The Shire, a fictional region in the “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” franchise.
It looks like the site has got some competition as a new tourist attraction just officially launched yesterday (Thursday, 4th April) in Cameron Highlands itself and it’s inspired by one of the famous Cyclades islands of Greece, Santorini. Here’s everything we know about it:
Who says you need to book an over 30-hour flight to Greece when you can visit the town of Santorini here in our very own background? The brand new attraction known as Cameron Santorini is said to be inspired by the town on the famous Greek islands which is known for its beautiful landmarks and mesmerising sunsets, just like the one you’ve seen on TV or in movies. Not to be mistaken with Mini Santorini which is also located in Cameron Highlands.
This Greece-inspired paradise is located near the serene Water Cress Valley, which is a 6-minute drive from Copthorne Hotel Cameron Highlands. As seen in the photos posted by multiple sources, the breathtaking buildings, architecture and beautiful decorations are very reminiscent of the Greek town and you can definitely take some amazing photos and videos while you explore the area.
Unfortunately, this Mediterranean haven is not a homestay experience so you can’t really spend the night there. Fret not though, you will still have lots of time to enjoy as it is open from 9am to 6pm daily. The admission fee is RM40 per adult and RM20 for children aged 5 to 12 years old.
