After a successful reintroduction with long-time collaborator Aimé Leon Dore back in September 2023, New Balance is bringing back into its line-up the T500, a modern nod to quiet luxury.
Originally released in 1982, the T500 reintroduces an early ’80s tennis style known for its high-quality build and timeless good looks. The upper features pigskin suede, nubuck construction, and perforated toe-box detailing for a premium take on a familiar look.
A polyurethane midsole offers an understated hint of 1980s tech that stands out from the vulcanized soles of older court models. The design is rounded out with the elegant simplicity of a predominantly white colourway, suitable for any situation and any surface.
To celebrate the relaunch of the T500, New Balance will release the campaign film “Quiet Please.” The hero film, which subtly salutes the shoe’s tennis origins, was shot by emerging director Francis Plummer and features Chris Cadaver as the protagonist. The 20-second campaign captures the smooth Cadaver navigating a chaotic world of excessive luxury — blending cinematic visuals with the brand’s signature wit to reintroduce the retro silhouette. The film is live on the New Balance brand channel; watch it here:
The tennis shoe fulfills unique demands for athletic footwear: not only must it perform on the court, but it must reflect the refined leisure that tennis is known for. The T500 was built to fulfill this dual set of requirements, and the same things that made it a great tennis shoe in 1982 — premium materials and elegant simplicity — are why it remains a classic today.
The T500 is available at Pavilion KL, Sunway Pyramid, and The Exchange TRX store, as well as online at www.newbalance.com.my with suggested retail pricing of RM 539.00.
