Last year, British rock band Coldplay rocked Kuala Lumpur in a concert that Malaysian fans dubbed the concert of the year. Over 75,000 fans were at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium for the “Music Of The Spheres” concert – and needless to say, there are still fans hoping for more.
Yesterday (13th March), the band’s fan page, @/ColdplayMsia, shared a screenshot taken from the official Instagram account of Golive Asia, which handled the ticket sales for Coldplay’s Kuala Lumpur concert. In the now-deleted Instagram Stories post, the company shared the concert tour poster with the caption, “They’re coming back?”, seemingly hinting at a potential encore concert. The Coldplay fan page then shared the screenshot and the possibility of an encore concert, writing, “Wow, news coming in from Golive Asia. Is Coldplay coming back to Kuala Lumpur?”.
The tweet garnered a lot of attention from local fans, who are ecstatic at the possibility of Coldplay returning to Malaysia for another show. While some don’t want to put their hopes too high, in case the news isn’t real, they still voiced their excitement over the rumour. Many of those who went to the previous concert also said they’ve been looking forward to reliving their memories from the night. However, some joked that those who already went to the first concert in November should give a chance to those who haven’t seen the band live.
While nothing is for sure, many Malaysians said that if Coldplay is considering an encore tour, the local government should capitalise on this opportunity and have the band perform more shows, as they did in Singapore. Unfortunately, a quick search shows that the band don’t have a history of doing encore tours, so it’s hard to say if this rumour would ever come true.
What are your thoughts on this? Would you like to see Coldplay come back for another show in Malaysia?
