Hong Kong legendary actor and martial artist Jackie Chan (成龍) has been a long-time favourite since he made it big on-screen, even making a name for himself in Hollywood. In fact, his recent advertisement with BTS (방탄소년단)’s V (뷔) caused quite the stir.
But, there’s no denying that the actor has been getting on in age. And despite Jackie Chan being slated to turn 70 this year, many have been left startled by his aged appearance which was shared online recently. It’s certainly shaken up the community as it solidifies how old he’s gotten!
Photos of Jackie at an event in Sichuan on 13th March were shared online recently, surprising many. It showed Jackie in a black Mao suit, looking as put together as he usually is. However, his hair had more white in it than most remembered, and the wisp of a goatee, also white, along with clear wrinkles on his face, only highlighted his aged appearance.
Jackie maintained his energetic demenour, greeting his fans excitedly and enthusiastically, however, his appearance jarred many. “I don’t know why, I felt like crying when I saw it,” one shared. Another admitted: “I always thought (he) would never change.” But, a few wondered if his appearance was for another upcoming film.
Many will remember Jackie’s riveting performances in his various famous films such as “Police Story 3: Supercop (警察故事3超級警察)”, “Crime Story (重案组)” and Western films, “Rush Hour” and “The Karate Kid”. He’s won various awards, including the Best Actor Award at the 1993 Golden Horse Film Festival and a lifetime achievement Oscar for his numerous contributions to the film industry.
Well, there’s no denying that Jackie Chan is certainly starting to embrace his age on the cusp of turning 70. Still, we hope the actor will remain happy and healthy as he continues being a legend to many, both in film and beyond it.
