From time to time, you’d see both Dato Seri Vida and her daughter Cik B promoting their Salted Egg Salmon Skin snacks. However, yesterday (Tuesday, 5th March), it was reported that the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Perak raided a premise that processes the influencer’s popular snacks as it was suspected of using fake halal logos.
The case is still under investigation and when asked about the incident, Dato Seri Vida admitted that she was not fully aware of what happened. Here’s what she said:
After news broke out that her daughter’s Salted Egg Salmon Skin snacks were one of the products that were confiscated by KPDN out of suspicion of having fake halal logos on the packaging, Dato Seri Vida quickly addressed the issue. Speaking to Kosmo, the celebrity entrepreneur claimed that she had no idea about the raid as she had just returned from overseas.
“I was out of the country. I’m still learning about what has happened and what the media have reported. I will also cooperate with the authorities during the questioning. I can’t just run away now, can I?” said the “I Am Me” singer. The business owner once again clarified that she did not have much details about the raid as she was not there during the time of the incident.
As for Cik B herself, she has yet to release a statement on the raid and her snacks being confiscated. According to reports, KPDN Perak conducted a raid at a well-known snack food product premises in the Jelapang Industrial Area at 11am after receiving intel that the food processing activities in the area were suspected of using illegal halal logos.
KPDN confiscated many popular snacks that were sold online, namely Salted Egg Salmon Skin, amounting to RM88,582.50. The case is currently being investigated under the Trade Description Act 2011. “If convicted, the individuals would receive a fine not exceeding RM100,000 or imprisonment not exceeding three years or both, while the company itself would receive a fine does not exceed RM250,000,” said Perak KPDN Director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail.
