The latest chapter of comprehensive eyewear is here, as Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster are back for another round of stellar collaborations for their Co-Ed Spring Summer 2024 Collection.
Ranging from comfortable, leather-wrapped frames to futuristic templeless designs, the French luxury house and the South Korean optical glasses brand have come together to bring you 17 new designs to pick and choose from, all of them exhibiting the iconic four white stitches. One of the core ethoses when it came down to this collaboration was Gentle Monster and Maison Margiela’s study into the evolving notions of how we dress and why: the memories, familiarities, instincts, and gestures that inform the way we present ourselves.
From there, the two have combined their knowledge, exploring the concept of futurism alongside it, to create the eyewear of tomorrow. One of the most prominent pieces in the collection came from the mind of Creative Director John Galliano. The MM101 and MM102 are metallic mask-like eyewear designed to wrap around the contours of the eyes and nose, making them more organic while remaining futuristic.
The templeless MM101 and MM102 are exclusively presented in silver Glam Slam eyewear cases, whereas other frames are presented in white Glam Slam eyewear cases.
However, if the MM101 and the MM102 aren’t your type, there are other, simpler frames to choose from. The collection features ten sunglasses and seven spectacle designs adapted from the overarching theme.
These acetate frames come in signature colorways, including black, white, grey, cream, transparent, and tortoiseshell, as well as leather-framed editions in black, ivory, khaki, and blue nuances.
This collaborative effort launches on 7th March. For more, visit Gentle Monster’s and Maison Margiela’s official websites.
