AirAsia is known for doing the unexpected and this Chinese New Year is no different. In light of the celebration, one particular AirAsia flight was visited by the well-known “God of Wealth” (Choi San Yeh), causing much delight from passengers!
On 10th February, the first day of the New Year, passengers on a flight were tickled pink when they noticed their air steward dressed in a familiar looking costume. Despite the God of Wealth being there to announce some promotions, passengers were simply entertained by his presence.
Just yesterday (14th February), a video was uploaded to Xiao Hong Shu (小红书) showing the humorous scene, allegedly taken on a flight from Malaysia to Guangzhou. “On the first day of Lunar New Year, I was amused by AirAsia’s God of Wealth selling goods,” the caption read.
The video showed an air steward dressed in a “God of Wealth” costume, making announcements about AirAsia’s ongoing promotions. His unexpected appearance excited many passengers and several were quick to whip out their phones to record the scene.
Netizens too found him adorable, with several praising his dedication to his job. “(He’s) very good at (organisation),” one said. “I will be so happy (when I) see you.” However, the post’s author later explained that the stewards had only worn the outfits to sell food. “They changed out (of the costumes) after the food was sold out,” they explained.
We have to admit that bringing in the “God of Wealth” for the flight was a nice touch, especially for the CNY celebrations. Hopefully it gave those returning home something to remember on their trip home!
