Netizens Say Llaollao Is Overpriced Compared To Other Frozen Dessert Brands

Like many other restaurants in Malaysia, the frozen yoghurt franchise Llaollao has also increased its prices due to the rising cost of ingredients. As such, netizens aren’t happy with the new prices.

Twitter user @/lanamadinah recently shared her reaction to the new prices of a serving of frozen yoghurt from Llaollao. The tweet also included an image of the menu, showing the prices range from RM14.90 to RM21.90. In her tweet, the user wrote, “Is this the latest price for Llaollao? I’m better off eating IKEA’s frozen yoghurt. (It’s) RM4.90 for three toppings.”

The tweet garnered the attention of other netizens, who were equally shocked at the prices. Many lamented that the frozen yoghurt is too expensive, saying they could easily buy a meal or two with the price of one portion of frozen yoghurt. Some also compared their current price to their previous, saying it was a lot more affordable as even the most expensive was less than RM15.

Given the cost, some netizens say customers should start boycotting Llaollao to pressure the chain to lower their prices. They reference the current situation involving fast food chain McDonald’s and coffee shop Starbucks, where both businesses have been offering lower prices and deals to attract more customers following the ongoing boycott. Others say the brand is only comfortable raising the cost because people still buy from them regardless of the price.

However, the tweet also led to some providing alternatives to Llaollao that are more wallet-friendly, like IKEA and local brand Froogurtz, but added that the limited branches make it hard for most people in terms of accessibility. Others noted that restaurants like Nando’s also offer frozen yoghurt – but without the toppings that Llaollao is known for.

While stores like Jom Cha by Farm Fresh and Family Mart don’t serve frozen yoghurt, many say their soft serve is a better deal because you can get frozen dessert for much cheaper.

What do you think about this? Do you think the pricing is appropriate for Llaollao? Or is RM14.90 for a small tub of yoghurt too expensive?
