After her divorce from a member of Malaysian royalty, Russian model Oksana Voevodina has been living a happy life as a single mother – but that hasn’t stop netizens from speculating about her current marital and religious status.
The model recently became the topic of netizen’s conversation after she quietly dropped “Petra” from her name. Oksana adopted the name Rihana Petra following her conversion to Islam after her marriage. The Petra name is also notable as it belongs to the family she previously married into. Since her divorce, many questioned when the model would drop the name, given that she’s no longer part of the family.
While not direct, her recent Instagram post does seem to provide the answer many have been seeking. In the post, the Russian-born added the caption “Oksana Andreevna in Mari Vanna”, where she seemed to forgo the name Petra. Many netizens noted the quiet change but still questioned why the model maintained Rihana Petra as her Instagram handle if she now goes by her birth name. However, some explained that it was due to issues with Instagram’s verification system, which means she can’t change the handle without losing the blue tick.
The change also led netizens to debate whether Oksana and her son Leon are still Muslim or if the two had left the religion. Leon, who is her son born from her marriage after her conversion, was born a Muslim. However, Oksana and her ex-husband split just a month after Leon’s birth, meaning Leon has since been raised entirely by Oksana as a single parent. The model has never discussed her child’s religion, leading many to question whether or not she raised him with Muslim values.
Another question that many netizens had was regarding Leon’s whereabouts. Oksana, who used to always post about her son on her Instagram account, hasn’t posted about Leon since February 2023. While there could be many reasons why Oksana refrained from posting about Leon, netizens still voiced their concern about the boy.
Whatever it is, we hope Oksana and Leon are both happy and healthy.
