Rumours are always designed to hurt, whether they are true or not. That’s certainly the case for local internet celeb Tong Tong (彤彤) aka Lizz Chloe (陈泇彤) after she was alleged to have stolen someone’s husband!
Despite Lizz Chloe’s attempts to refute the rumours, many netizens still believe the allegations. Unfortunately, the consequences of said rumours have spread far and wide, from affecting Lizz’s reputation to pulling her boyfriend and his ex-wife into the mess.
Shortly after Tong Tong aka Lizz Chloe was implied to have been the mistress involved in the recently publicised cheating scandal, Lizz finally revealed her boyfriend of almost two years. As it turns out, she’s been seeing JWC founder, Nelson Lai, who admitted to being a divorcee with three kids, aged 11 to 13. However, both denied being the couple spoken of in the scandal.
Unfortunately, it seems Lizz’s efforts haven’t been able to negate all the damages. Reportedly, her reputation has taken a heavy hit recently, with one sports brand in particular allegedly withdrawing her Chinese New Year advertisement for their product. Netizens claim the advert, a video of Lizz, Shu Sen and Chang Yong, allegedly uploaded earlier, was missing by 15th January.
Several reportedly told the brand to believe Lizz. “You must have confidence in the endorser you chose, Lizz Chloe aka Tong Tong. If she said she isn’t a mistress, then she isn’t,” they said. But, according to both their Facebook and Instagram, the both of the brand’s adverts involving Lizz are still available.
Lizz and Nelson aren’t the only ones being dragged into the mess however. Apparently, Nelson’s ex-wife has been caught in the cross-fire too. A woman, claiming to be her, recently shared her woes with DJ Leng Yein (林云) via her Facebook comments after Leng Yein poised a question to her followers.
The lady claimed she had not told anyone about her divorce, nor had she made a fuss about it. Yet, she is now being harassed for being jealous of Lizz. She also claimed their divorce had happened on 15th April 2021, not in 2022 like the rumours claimed. “Some people who weren’t happy with me before have also added oil to the fire,” she shared, adding they were now openly discussing her relationships.
Lizz Chloe aka Tong Tong claimed she previously kept Nelson out of the spotlight as he was not from the entertainment industry. However, she insisted her relationship with him had not been hidden from her family and friends, some of whom have expressed their support for her online.
There’s no denying that Lizz and Nelson are currently caught in a sticky situation, not helped by the still spreading rumours. However, we hope things will calm down for them soon, and for Nelson’s ex-wife.
