A shopping centre is supposed to be the place where people get to enjoy themselves but there have been multiple tragedies that have happened at these establishments. Earlier this month, 2 suspicious men shot a group of friends at a coffee shop near a mall in Sarawak.
Prior to that, shoppers were panicking when the ceiling of this Petaling Jaya mall started collapsing due to the heavy storm outside. If these incidents weren’t terrifying enough, many were horrified when a man allegedly started stabbing himself one afternoon at a mall in the neighbouring country.

Yesterday (Monday, 15th January), it was reported that a man walked into Sun Plaza in Sembawang, Singapore without a shirt on. According to witnesses, the strange individual allegedly started stabbing himself multiple times in the chest with a knife before falling to the ground.
Shoppers started panicking and dared not approach the man to stop him from harming himself. The incident occurred at around 2pm outside the McDonald’s outlet. The fast-food chain restaurant manager told reporters, “Everyone was panicking until the police arrived 10 minutes later to maintain order”. Other witnesses claimed that the man was alone and had a calm expression on his face throughout the incident.
According to the police officers, the 67-year-old year shirtless man was already lying on the ground bleeding and unconscious by the time they arrived. It was believed that his wounds were self-inflicted as witnesses claimed. “He was subsequently conveyed to the hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. Police investigations are ongoing,” they said.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that the man was immediately taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. At the time of writing, the identity of the man is currently unknown and police are still investigating his motives to stab himself in a public space.
