Friends fight sometimes, that’s just a part of life. But, most fights don’t end in death. Unfortunately, that was not the case for Chinese internet celeb 刘野 (transliteration: Liu Ye). Reportedly, a recent tussle between him and another internet celeb has resulted in his passing!
On 8th January, it was revealed that 刘野 (Liu Ye) had been stabbed to death by fellow internet celeb 大拓 (transliteration: Da Tuo). The duo were reportedly part of the 小娜娜传媒 group, led by 小娜娜 (Xiao Nana) which has over 24 million followers on social media platform 快手 (Kuaishou).
The stabbing incident had allegedly taken place at 2am on 2nd January. Apparently, the two had a quarrel over matters and resorted to physical violence, which led to Da Tuo stabbing Liu Ye. Witnesses claim Da Tuo stabbed him several times, resulting in them being covered in blood. Liu Ye was later sent to the hospital for treatment, but reportedly passed away.
A source reportedly claimed that the fight had escalated as the company was having their annual meeting that night, which ended in them going to the bar together to drink. It is believed that both Da Tuo and Liu Ye were under the influence of alcohol when the fight started, which has led to netizens blaming the company for Liu Ye’s death, as some believe the incident could have been avoided.
However, Liu Ye’s passing was only confirmed yesterday by the police and the group’s head, Xiao Nana. Xiao Nana claims the duo left separately for their homes, saying she had no idea why they would meet up again to argue. She also alleged that the fight had nothing to do with the company and was a private matter between the two. “The two of them were so impulsive,” she reportedly commented. “No one expected it.”
At the moment, Da Tuo is in police custody as the police carry out an investigation on the incident. But, other members of the group have reportedly refused to comment on the issue. The group too is currently on break for three days.
Some netizens are suspicious of 小娜娜传媒, including Xiao Nana as they are wondering why news of Liu Ye’s death was only confirmed five days after the fight. Reportedly, many also feel the company is avoiding taking responsibility for Liu Ye’s passing as they have allegedly deleted information relevant to his death.
Regardless, our condolences to 刘野 (Liu Ye)’s friends and family. We sincerely hope they will find peace in his passing. We also hope justice will be served on his behalf.
