2024 brings a lot of new surprises, but for this family in New Jersey, the start of 2024 turned out to be very special. After all, how often do your twin kids get born in two different years?
The Humphreys had been expecting their twins sometime in January 2024, but to their surprise, the twins came on New Year’s Eve. It was even more of a surprise when the twins were born separately on two different years despite being born only 40 minutes apart.
Bill, the father, was delighted when his wife revealed on New Year’s Eve that her water had just broke. As he termed it, it was a perfect gift: his twin boys being born on his birthday. The couple travelled to Virtua Voorhees Hospital to wait for the anticipated moment. “We had actually joked when I went into the room and said, “Oh, wouldn’t this be funny if you had two babies on two separate days, maybe two separate years”,” their doctor said.
Well, the throwaway joke became a real possibility when Eve, the wife, gave birth to their first baby, Ezra, on 31st December 2023 at 11:48pm. Initially, they wondered if the second twin would come before the year ended. But, baby Ezekiel was born at 12:28pm on 1st January 2024, 40 minutes after his brother. Needless to say, many were amazed by the timing of the twins’ birth.
Billy was even more ecstatic as he and his sons, including his oldest, 3-year-old Hezekiah whose birthday falls on 3rd January, all had birthdays near each other. Billy also shared that it would enable him to celebrate their birthdays together with father-son trips. “Just the four of us, that will give mom a break to relax at home,” he reportedly told CNN.
