Users Claim GrabUnlimited Is A “Scam” For Misleading Users With False Delivery Fee Charges

Many loyal Grab users are probably subscribed to GrabUnlimited, hoping for better deals – whether it be discounts on the food or the delivery charges. However, several users have contested the claims, saying the service feels more like a scam.

Twitter user @/qhaishaaantsha recently shared her frustration with the service, specifically the falsely advertised delivery fee charges. The user wrote, “Wtf is this tbh? So what am I paying for with GrabUnlimited?” and included two screenshots that show the delivery fee charges initially advertised as RM3 for GrabUnlimited users – but after placing the order, the actual delivery fee gets marked as RM7.

The tweet alleges that the service marks certain charges higher than usual, which negates the purpose of paying extra to subscribe to the “premium service” for better deals. The Twitter user isn’t the only one who noticed the misleading fees because other GrabUnlimited subscribers also said they received the same “discount”, even calling it a scam. Some also said the false advertising is why they unsubscribed from the service.

However, some netizens did explain that the discounted price is offered as a promo by the restaurant rather than the app. Another user explained that the discount on delivery fees might be limited to a specific area, like how close the user is to the restaurant. However, the Twitter user argued that it’s misleading the customers as the final charge is not the same as advertised, and the terms aren’t straightforward.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a user has called out the app for misleading customers. Last year, another GrabUnlimited user revealed that she paid more for delivery fees than a regular Grab user. At the time, Grab explained that the differently displayed fees were because of a glitch in the system.

What do you think about these claims about GrabUnlimited? Does it still provide better deals? Or are netizens right to call it a scam?
