An unnamed elderly had crashed into a KFC outlet at the Shell petrol station at Jalan Ling Kai Cheng in Sibu, Sarawak. The 90-year-old driver reportedly started having difficulties breathing while driving, causing him to lose control of the accelerator and steering wheel of his silver Perodua Saga. The incident happened around 9am today (Tuesday, 26th December).
According to China Press, the man was about to leave the premises when he suddenly felt difficulty breathing. The problem caused him to panic and lose control, thus accidentally stepping on the accelerator of his Perodua Saga. The car then slammed right into the glass door of the KFC outlet, which frightened other customers in the store.
Employees from both KFC and Shell immediately rushed to help the man out of the crash site. The 90-year-old was taken to Hospital Sibu by KFC and Shell employees for medical attention. Thankfully, there were no reports of other victims, but there are no updates on the state of the KFC store after the crash.
The news was also shared through social media platforms, garnering tons of responses from netizens. Many said the incident is why older folks, particularly those with health issues, should not be allowed to drive without proper supervision. Some also prayed for the elderly victim, hoping for a smooth recovery after the crash. However, some netizens have also made distasteful jokes about the crash, leading to criticism from other netizens.
We’re glad the man received medical attention as soon as possible. We wish him a speedy recovery.
