Stories of unfaithful boyfriends or husbands are becoming more common these days. Many have exposed their lover of cheating on them with another woman but it is not so often that we get stories of someone catching their father cheating on their mother with someone of the same sex.
Yesterday (Wednesday, 20th December), Twitter user @/meinmokhtar posted an anonymous submission from a netizen confession via the NGL link. The unnamed individual expressed that they’re seeking advice after discovering their father’s alleged infidelity.
In the photo above, the anonymous user shared that they recently discovered that their father, who is still married to their mother, is gay and has been actively engaging with other gay men on multiple WhatsApp group chats. “There were too many dirty texts and photos shared in those chats, my body was shaking,” the netizen wrote.
They also revealed that they feel conflicted about whether they should let their mother know about their discovery. “I haven’t told her yet ’cause I didn’t want to hurt her and my dad is a religious man who would often go to the mosque to pray.” It is unknown if the father has actually engaged in any physical sexual activity with other men. The anonymous person also questioned if they would be considered an enabler if they remain silent about the father’s wrongdoings.
Just like the nameless Twitter user, netizens are also torn on what should be the right thing to do in this situation. Some feel that the mother deserves to know the truth while others suggest the mother may have actually been aware of this but prefers to remain oblivious.
It appears that netizens couldn’t agree on just one answer, possibly fearing that the outcome might cause things to spiral out of control. What would you have done if you were in their situation?
