IGB Real Estate Investment Trust (IGB REIT) released a statement to announce the sudden death of one of its most trusted executives, Daniel Yong Chen-I. According to the statement, Daniel, who is the chief operating officer (COO) passed away on 19th December (Tuesday) due to a cardiac arrest. He was 53 years old.
The sudden news of his death has shaken the business community. Daniel has left behind a legacy that will be remembered always. Let’s look back at some of his achievements throughout his career.
Daniel Yong graduated from the University of Bristol, England. He first joined the Mid Valley City Sdn Bhd (MVC) in 1999 and has since become an integral part of the company. The businessman was once a member of the pre-opening retail development team where he showcased his commitment to the organization’s growth.
In 2003, he finally made his way up and was appointed as the executive director of MVC and served as COO, overseeing the management and operations of Mid Valley Megamall. Moreover, Daniel was actually one of the people involved in the design and pre-opening phases of The Gardens Mall from 2004 to 2007.
In IGB REIT’s statement, the company did not address whether Daniel had any health issues prior to his death. They did, however, express their deepest condolences to the COO’s family and requested everyone to give them privacy during this difficult time.
“We kindly request that the privacy of the family be respected as they mourn the untimely loss of their loved one,” the statement read. Rest in peace, Daniel Yong.
