Part of the thrill or fear of riding the LRT/MRT is that you never know who/what you might encounter. Some had the misfortune of getting yelled at by another MRT passenger for something they allegedly did while others were probably wondering why this woman was working on her laptop in the LRT.
For the most part, people tend to ignore if they see someone filming harmless content for their social media but even so, would you still have the courage to film a dancing video on the MRT? This local TikToker shared exactly what her experience was like.
@sabrinabahsoon BTS of my first MRT #tubegirl video, shoutout to my parents for assisting in the #tubegirleffect 🥰 results soonnn but can u guess the song?!
Malaysian content creator Sabrina Bahsoon is known for her dancing and lip-syncing videos on TikTok and she often films these videos on the train in London where she’s currently based, thus earning the nickname Tube Girl. The TikTok star returned home for her grandmother’s birthday and while she’s still in the country, she recenty filmed a video in the MRT.
She posted the behind-the-scenes footage of her filming the video yesterday (Sunday, 17th December). “I’m so scared. The level of confidence you need in order to do something like this in Malaysia is different, the aunties are gonna judge me!” she said. Thankfully, the influencer wasn’t alone as her parents were there to help with her content. While on her way to the Sungai Buloh MRT station, Sabrina explained the difference between Londoners and Malaysians saying that the former don’t pay much attention to anyone doing silly things in public.
“The people in Malaysia will stare at you if you’re doing something whack and I’m about to do something whack”. The moment arrived for the influencer to do her TikTok video for her channel; although there were a few stares, the passengers onboard were pretty accommodating and ignored her despite using the loud windblower for dramatic effects. Netizens, who were also surprised to learn that Tube Girl is Malaysian, applauded her for her confidence and praised her parents for being supportive.
We’re glad that things worked out in the end and we hope to see more fun (and maybe local) content from Sabrina while she’s still holidaying in the country. Check out the video below to see the end result:
