There’s been a lot of talk about the United Nations (UN) ever since the Palestine-Israel conflict intensified back in October. People around the world expressed their opinions regarding the intergovernmental organization all over social media since there has been no call for a permanent ceasefire so far.
Probably one of the most unbelievable things to have happened at the UN is the sudden appearance of none other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson (who sadly passed away in 2009 at age 50). However, the seat he was sitting at was what caught many Malaysian’s attention. Here’s why:
@hypemalaysia Netizens Baffled By Michael Jackson Representing Malaysia At United Nations
Twitter user Joe Lee reposted a TikTok video yesterday evening (Wednesday, 13th December) that showed a Michael Jackson impersonator at the United Nations General Assembly hall. As seen in the video above, the impersonator of the King of Pop was sitting in Malaysia’s seat in the hall. The video also showed several members of the organization posing with the performer.
“So many questions,” the user captioned and so many questions we have indeed. First of all, why was ‘Michael Jackson’ at the UN? Why was he representing Malaysia? Sadly, there are no answers to these questions as we couldn’t find the source on TikTok. What we do know is the real identity of the icon’s doppelganger. It was shown at the end of the video that his real name is Wang Yonghua who also goes by Wang Jackson and that the original video was probably taken back in July of this year, according to the certificate he was holding.
Wang Jackson is a Hollywood contracted actor and a well-known Michael Jackson impersonator from China who often performs at tribute shows for the King of Pop as the King of Pop himself. After the reposted video went viral, many Malaysian netizens were both confused and amused by the whole thing. Some made jokes about Michal Jackson rising from the dead to restore world peace himself while others were baffled that he was “representing” Malaysia at the assembly.
We may never get the answers as to why Wang Jackson was there at the UN assembly as the pop legend but we hope that he was there to carry on the message to “Heal The World”.
