Taiwanese singer Vivian Hsu (徐若瑄) shocked fans when she announced her divorce from Singaporean businessman Sean Lee (李云峰) after nine years of marriage. As expected, fans made tons of speculation about the divorce – and these comments from Lee Jing Lei (李靚蕾) and Hsu Chang-te (許常德) are only making them more curious.
A day after Vivian’s announcement, Wang Leehom’s (王力宏) ex-wife Lee Jing Lei shared a lengthy post on Instagram, which many believed contained a message indirectly commenting on the Taiwanese singer’s recent marital affair. While the caption was to reflect on the past year and announce news regarding her podcast, Jing Lei also wrote, “Are you happy this year? No matter how much you have, how much you lack, how much you gain or how much you lose. You may have temporary emotional ups and downs but you will not become happier because you have more or less. Sometimes losing is gaining and having is losing.”
While it seems like a typical reflection post, some have noted that it’s suspicious of the public figure to post right after Vivian’s divorce announcement. News outlets have reported that the two have a rift after Jing Lei accused Vivian of interfering in her marriage with her popstar ex-husband. Despite Vivian denying the claims, many say the two have yet to patch things up.
Meanwhile, Taiwanese musician Hsu Chang-te also shared a post on Facebook, which seemed less cryptic than Jing Lei’s as it directly talks about relationships. The veteran musician wrote, “For divorced people, I say congratulations because divorce is harder to reach an agreement than marriage. For married people, I’ll say go for it because you will face immeasurable tests after marriage. It’s not easy.”
Despite not directly mentioning Vivian, many believed the post to be a message of encouragement for the star and her recent split. As a known lyricist, Chang-te has previously worked with Vivian, namely on her debut album. The post also resonated with many netizens, who shared their thoughts about the hardships of marriage and divorce.
It’s hard to tell whether these posts were actually about Vivian’s split from her husband – but perhaps she can take away some valuable message from them.
